Houston Horror Film Festival is THEE Destination for Everything Horror!

Our team made the travel to Houston, TX to check out THEE horror destination not only in Houston or Texas but in the nation. Yes, you heard us make that exclamation but you must experience it to understand it. We made arrangements to stay at the hotel Westchase Marriott to stay on Friday until Sunday, but we couldn’t wait that long. On Thursday evening, we made the trek to Houston while looking for a hotel to book on the road. Once we found the hotel that was available, we made sure to get ready for everything Houston Horror Film Fest in our minds and souls.

Our Travel

The travel to Houston was ok, not so much traffic but there was some construction, but all in all, it was a good drive. Once we got to Katy, we made our trek to Bucees to use the restroom and score some snacks. Afterwards, we went to check in at the Red Roof Inn plus hotel and went to Westchase Marriott Hotel to hang with our horror friends. We spent some time hanging out with friends, taking some wicked Jell-O shots, and drinking some Twisted Tea. We then left to back to that hotel and got ready for tomorrow’s shenanigans.

We woke up to scary scenes in our hotel (had to shower at host hotel twice), but we did got to Ihop. We had some pancakes that hit the spot. Then we checked into Westchase Marriott afterwards and got ready to hang, party, and of course showcase Houston Horror Film Fest.

Houston Horror Film Fest 2023

The staff at Houston Horror Film Fest were very professional throughout the weekend. They helped out the thousands of fans in attendance with any questions that they may have had. We were able to get our passes real quickly and thanked the film fest team for their continued help and support. We were able to walk around the film fest once it was time for fans to go through the doors. There had been a long line of fans waiting throughout the day to attend this event. Quite frankly, each day from Friday to Sunday, there were long lines of people waiting to be let into the film fest. I never had witnessed so many dedicated fans wanting to patiently to meet their favorite celebs, buy their next collectible item from vendors, or witness the next big film during the Film Fest.

We were able to meet such guests Heather Matarazzo, Elliott Fullam, Samantha Mathis, Don Yesso, Michael Hargrove, Matt Birman, Lauren LaVera, Felissa Rose, and countless more. Each celeb guest provided a positive interaction for any fan that was attending the film festival. Many of the celeb guests had constant fans at their tables who were purchasing autos, taking pictures, and engulfed into stories from the celebs. These are the moments we enjoy as you can get that one on one connection with a guest that you can’t get at other places.

On Friday evening, we were able to hang out with various people around the venue and outside as well. Many people we talked were so welcoming discussing their favorite horror movies, favorite wrestlers, and more with us. We met so many new friends just on Friday that it was so exciting. We all were exchanging Instagram and FB friend requests to continue to stay in touch. That was just Friday night!

On Saturday evening, we attended the after party that was hosted by Felissa Rose. The after party had some of the most memorable moments of our at time at Houston Horror Film Fest! We saw a ton of Ghost Face’s just dance like it was 1998 in San Jose, California! Cherie Currie came out on stage to perform a few songs, but before she performed, Don Yesso did bicep curls with her. We took Jell-O shots with so many people, took various pictures with our new and old horror friends, and enjoyed that evening the best we could.

On Sunday, we continued our trek around Houston Horror Film Fest seeing what various vendors had left over to buy. We enjoy buying items from vendors that had some unique items. We got some good items such as shirts, posters, and ear rings that we were able to take home. At 1pm, we attended the Film Festival Award Ceremony and it was pretty neat. For the record, we tried to get into any of the film screenings. Each time we ventured to a film screening, the room was filled to the max. I had wanted to see a few films that were shown, but each time I went the door was already closed and I’m like hmmmm its not time yet from what the schedule had said. It’s ok though,  I know I will catch them one of these days. I’m so glad many people enjoyed the films that were showcased at the film festival. Back to the award ceremony, we saw some good films win awards as well as actors, actresses, writers, and directors taking home an award as well.

All in All, Houston Horror Film Festival provided a fun and exciting place that every horror fan needs to venture to each year. You will meet people that will become your next friend, you will meet guests that are so some of the coolest people to talk to, and discover a new world around you. We can’t wait until next year’s film fest as we want to create new memories as well as see what the team at Houston Horror Film Fest will bring in 2024!
